How Ningaloo tours differ
Whale shark swims, humpback whale tours and reef trips are separate products. A ticket to watch from the boat does not mean you can swim with the animal. One operator, for example, sells an observer ticket for its whale shark trip with no option to upgrade. Each product has its own season, its own group size and its own terms.
The examples below come from single operators. They show what one product costs, not a market range. Listed prices are not a promise of free seats on your day, and weather, minimum numbers and official access can change a trip. Prices are in Australian dollars (A$), as listed in October 2026.

Tour types compared
Each row is one kind of trip, with an example from a single operator.
| Trip | Season | Example price | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whale shark swim | March to July or August (park pages). One operator advertises trips until November 2026. | A$660 adult, A$590 child up to 16, A$250 observer (one operator) | No-sighting terms, group size, observer or swimmer ticket |
| Humpback whale swim | August to mid-October, or August to October (two operators) | A$600 from age 13 (one operator) | Age limit, repeat trip terms, no swimming with mothers and calves |
| Reef dive with Dive Ningaloo (Westside) | โ | A$320 certified, 2 dives. A$435 Discover Scuba, 2 dives. A$275 snorkel. | Sites depend on the day, depths 8 to 24 m |
| Muiron Islands snorkel from Bundegi | โ | โ | About 30 minutes by boat. Road works can close the Bundegi access. |
| Yardie Creek boat tour | โ | The operator now lists 2027 tickets at A$85 | About 1 hour on a shaded boat. Confirm the current schedule. |
| Navy Pier dive | Closed | โ | The operator reports a maintenance closure with no reopening date. |
The Navy Pier is an active military site, and diving there is only possible with a licensed operator. The prices that still show on the operator's page do not mean the dive can be booked. The Muiron dive trips of that operator have been paused since 21 August 2025, which is an operator decision, not a general ban on the islands.

Exmouth tours: where they start
Pickup and meeting points differ by operator.
From your Exmouth accommodation
One catamaran operator offers free pickup at Exmouth accommodation. It does not pick up from the campgrounds in Cape Range National Park.
Where to stay โFrom Cape Range campgrounds
If you camp in the park, that operator asks you to meet at the Tantabiddi Boat Ramp. Allow time for the drive on an early start.
Camping โFrom Bundegi
The Muiron Islands snorkel trip of one operator leaves from Bundegi, about 30 minutes by boat. The Shire has announced several short closures of Murat Road, the access to Bundegi, for maintenance. Check the current notices before an early start.
From the Exmouth Boat Harbour
The harbour has charter berths, 2 sealed public car parks and a public boat ramp. Repairs after Cyclone Narelle can limit single areas while the harbour stays open.
Exmouth โWhat the price can include
One example, not a rule for every operator.
The whale shark trip of one operator lists transfers, snorkel gear, a wetsuit, a spotter plane, food, photos and guides, with the park authority's fees and taxes included. Do not assume that another operator includes the same. Compare the inclusions line by line, and ask about fees that are not in the price.
For the whale shark trip of that operator, up to 20 swimming guests are on board and the groups in the water have 10 guests. Its humpback trip takes up to 14 swimming guests, with water groups of 7. Both are operator rules, not general law.
Booking terms and no-sighting rules
The wording differs more than the prices do.
Deposit and balance
One operator asks for a 20 percent deposit on regular bookings. The balance is due 14 days before departure for 1 to 8 guests and 21 days before for larger groups. Weather, minimum numbers and official access can change whether a trip runs.
Whale shark no-sighting terms
The first operator lets paying snorkellers choose the next available repeat trip, a voucher valid for 2 years or a partial refund of A$100. Observers are excluded, and the company decides whether a no-sighting case applies. The second operator offers the same three choices to fully paying snorkellers on whale shark tours until 31 July. It excludes discounted and agent fares, and from 1 August it gives no no-sighting benefit on shoulder-season eco tours.
Humpback terms are different
Do not carry the whale shark rule over to humpback trips. One operator offers no free repeat and no refund for a trip without a swim. After an unsuccessful water encounter it offers a second trip at a 50 percent discount.
Humpback whales โCard fees
One catamaran page lists two different online or card fees, 2 percent in one place and 1.5 percent in another. Ask for the final total before you pay.

Mantas are most numerous off Exmouth from May to November, but do not count on a manta swim from Exmouth all year. For manta tours throughout the year, see the guide to Coral Bay.
Ningaloo tours: frequently asked questions
What is the best Ningaloo tour?
That depends on the season and the animal. Whale sharks and humpbacks are separate trips with separate seasons, and a reef snorkel trip is a third kind. The table above compares single examples, not a ranking.
How much does a Ningaloo tour cost?
The examples above range from A$250 for an observer on a whale shark trip to A$660 for an adult swimmer. Dive trips with Dive Ningaloo list A$275 for snorkelling and A$320 for two dives. These are single products in October 2026, and extras can change the final price.
Do I get a refund if I do not see a whale shark?
It depends on the operator and the product. Two operators list a repeat trip, a voucher or A$100 back for paying snorkellers on whale shark tours, with conditions. Do not apply that to humpback tours.
Is a pickup from my accommodation included?
It differs. One operator picks up free at Exmouth accommodation but not at Cape Range campgrounds, where you meet at the Tantabiddi Boat Ramp. Check the meeting point for your tour.
Can I dive the Navy Pier?
Not at the moment. The operator, which describes itself as the only licence holder, reports a maintenance closure and is waiting for word from Defence. When dives resume, the operator asks for an original passport or an Australian photo licence, and dives run only around slack tide.
